Shortwave Research Group’s second album is the calm after the storm. Tanks lie burned out in the desert. Black, acrid smoke drifts across the landscape. In the far distance, beyond the focal plane, weapons are still firing. The occasional shockwave of an explosion breaks over the now abandoned theatre of operations.
Sounds enter and exit the acoustic space without resolution. Their plot lines are untold and unanswered. Everything moves in slow motion. A shapeless dread hangs in the air as the scraping of metal and a constant low rumble mix into a foreboding presence.
As you stare deeply into the abyss, it begins to stare back into you.
